ABA Pathways are now set up to offer school aged children education via alternative provision or EOTAS (education otherwise than at school). As a team, we have worked in SEND and provided training in mainstream schools for a number of years and have seen, first-hand, how these spaces are not equipped to meet the needs of some of our children with additional, complex needs.

The aim of our education provision is to support individuals and their families at an early stage, so as to avoid the risk of placement breakdown. We offer individualised approaches to learning where we will focus on building confidence and skills and reducing barriers to learning so that the individuals we work with can then successfully access a more inclusive school environment in the future.

As an alternative provision, we will work alongside school placements to ensure we can help each individual achieve their goals and aspirations as outlined within their EHCPs. As an EOTAS provider we will endeavour to work collaboratively across professionals to create a bespoke, multi-disciplinary approach to learning to meet each individual’s needs.

At ABA Pathways, we recognise that each individual will have very unique needs and therefore different expectations and potential outcomes from our service. For some, who have had a longer history of struggling within the education system, it may be that our end goal is for them to be more independent and fulfilled versions of themselves but that they do not manage to re-engage with a typical school environment and that is still an incredible achievement for them to be able to accomplish.

Our new, purpose-built, premises is based in Bicknacre, Chelmsford. The premises is situated on a working farm where we are working towards setting up access to engage in hands on skills that our older learners may then be able to continue as a form of employment in the future. There’s even talk about opening up a café on site where we can use the local produce to make and sell goods to the community…watch this space!
